Does Telecommuting Incur Burnout in Teachers During the COVID-19 Quarantine Lockdown? A Moderated Mediation Model of Harmonious Passion and Housing Size

During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, teachers who are accustomed to teaching and preparing lessons through traditional ways have been forced move workplace from school home shift their working method telecommuting. To understand how affected by mandatory telecommuting, this study examined association between telecommuting teacher burnout investigated mediating role of harmonious passion moderating housing size in relationship. Using data 168 teachers, we tested our model found that extent not only has a direct positive effect on teachers’ but also positively affects decreasing for work. Housing size, physical work environment during quarantine moderates indirect effect. Future research can be carried out perspectives considering cross-cultural contexts, exploring different moderators, such as other conditions or individuals’ subjective feelings engendered situation, investigating impact students’ individual outcomes. Implications theory practice discussed.
